Breathing App

Breathing is a simple act that we tend to take for granted. But the way we breathe can have a profound impact on the way we live.

Breathing is a simple act that we tend to take for granted. But the way we breathe can have a profound impact on the way we live. B-Reel partnered with breathing expert Brian Mackenzie and his team at Unscared Inc to translate their methods into a smart guided breathing app.

App interface: (a) Menu, (b) Exercise, (c) Measurement

Brian Mackenzie – human performance and endurance expert – approached B-Reel with an idea. He wanted to take learnings from his practice and create an efficient product to help people regulate their emotions and elevate their state of being. He envisioned a simple and scientifically grounded tool without the baggage and clunkiness of most meditation practices. But the field of mindfulness apps was growing increasingly busy, how could we make something that breaks through the noise?

We worked with Mackenzie to apply his research and breathing techniques toward an algorithm-powered app that learns and evolves with users over time.

We distanced the look and feel of our product from most mainstream meditation apps to produce a streamlined and focused tool. Leaning on black and restrained key colors, we kept our app distraction-free and focused on the breathing exercises. State is a thoughtful and thorough product that makes it easy for people to get to their desired state of being.

B-Reel worked closely with Mackenzie and team at Unscared Inc to develop State’s concept, branding and go-to-market approach. From there, we designed and built the full app now available on App Store and Google Play.
